Brake Service Model 555

Benefits of Brake Bleeding

Simple and easy to operate, the Engine Clean Brake service, Model RX 555, will service previous generation braking systems and the new hybrid and electrical vehicle wheel systems with regenerative braking. Many of these systems require higher pressures than conventional brake bleeding systems. Once the new fluid line is connected to the master cylinder a complete brake service can be performed in 5-10 minutes.

How It Works

The Engine Clean Brake Service machine RX • 555 operates on shop air. To begin the service, connect the new fluid hose to the master cylinder adapter. Set the pressure for new fluid at the Manufacturer’s specifications. Lift the vehicle to access the brake bleeder valves.

Conventional wisdom suggests that the wheel furthest from the master cylinder should be bled first. However, if you are servicing a late model vehicle with ABS and/or dynamic stability control, it doesn’t really matter if you start at the front or rear wheels of the car as they are on separate circuits. Always follow factory procedures.

Turn on the vacuum switch to on and match the vacuum setting with the pressure setting. Push the silicone vacuum hose over the nipple on the bleed screw. Crack the bleed screw and allow new fluid to flow from the master cylinder as the used brake fluid is being vacuumed from the brake line.

Bleeding is performed one wheel at a time. To bleed all four corners of the car it will take between 1/2 and one liter of brake fluid – or 5-10 ounces of brake fluid per wheel. Close the bleeder valve when the new fluid appears.

Once the 4 wheels have been serviced, flip the suction switch to off and decrease pressure until the gauge is zero. Remove the master cylinder adapter and place it on the waste collecting plate on the top of the machine cabinet to drain.

Add additional fluid if needed. Attach the master cylinder cap. Recheck the brake system before driving the vehicle.

Recommended Service Interval

Always follow your manufacturer's recommended service interval. We also recommend that you supplement your manufacturers recommendations with test stripes or fluid diagnostic pads to determine whether your vehicle's brake fluid is good, bad, or needs to be change.
